I just finished fixing the horn button of the Mitsubishi. The horn just went out because of the new horn button of the new steering wheel. The contacts do not meet so I just MacGyvered a wire so the horn would work in true ghetto style! I just used electrical tape (ran out of shrink tubes).

No pics. hehe

Career Opportunity

Jun. 26th, 2008 | 12:01 pm

Someone called me last night about a job or a career opportunity. The guy on the other line asked me if I was interested to work with other students from other schools. Syempre, I want to attend the interview just to check it out. Well, I became really suspicious when the caller never mentioned from what company was he from. He did message me about the whereabouts of the building. Their company is at the 15th Flr of the Teleperformance Bldg near San Miguel. A quick look at google showed that the company is an mlm scheme. I am least interested with these types of companies. So, I won't be coming to his office. :)

A few years ago, I was invited to one of these "meetings". There were lots of pictures and graphs. Everything seems credible. Just look at the visuals! FTW!! However, the need to recruit other members and the 10k fee, I backed off. I just bought a Pioneer headunit. Very good choice. :)

I am not dissing the guys who are in to this stuff, but it's not my cup of tea. hehe.

---------------------

I've been contemplating to move my blog to wordpress and close this angst and ill-updated LJ blog . so whatcha think? Maybe I'll be doing an auto DIY blog or JDM-PhDM blog. :) I have too much free time and foruming activities lessen your IQ by some percentage. hehe.

So what's up with February?

Well.. It's oral health month! =)

Anyway, it's roughly a month before classes end. Hopefully, I'll definitely make sure that the school year will end well. My groupmates and I just started testing the algorithms for our thesis. The results look somehow promising. Hopefully, we'll catch up with our two weeks backlog. That's all.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:

You prefer to get to know a person very well before deciding whether you will commit to the relationship. you definitely need to do this, oliver

I know it is really obvious what causes traffic jams here in QC. Apparently there has been a study made in Universities of Exeter, Bristol and Budapest  about how traffic jams are formed. Blame the moron in-front of you who just decided to abruptly slow down and brake for some weird reason.

Finally, there's an explanation for those wasted hours we spent on the MassPike today asking no one in particular "what the (dirty word) is this (dirty word)?" A team of mathemeticians from the Universities of Exeter, Bristol and Budapest developed a mathematical model revealing that traffic jams are caused by idiots. Okay, not exactly. The real explanation is that unexpected events, such as being cut off, require slowing below a threshold speed for smooth traffic flow. As we've all observed, when the car in front of you brakes suddenly, you need to brake even harder to compensate for your reaction time; this creates a wave that radiates back through traffic. That "backward-traveling-wave" means that because of one driver's inattention, we all pay for it miles behind.

The results of the study really point up the need to drive smoothly. Roads with heavy traffic volume seem to be more prone to traffic jams, too, but that's not necessarily the case. Heavy volume can proceed smoothly if drivers anticipate and avoid sudden actions. In the end, it appears that the main way to fix traffic jams is driver diligence. The low-tech solution is to pay attention when you're behind the wheel, but we've also now got radar-based cruise control that does this for you, so you can continue blithely on your way. It boils down to common sense; be a smooth driver, expect that everyone around you is a moron, and hopefully you won't be slamming on your brakes, causing a domino reaction.

I just finished downloading some audiophile cds. (well, they were converted to APE). They sound much better than conventional cds and mp3s. The problem is I don't know who these artists are. hehehe.

It's been almost a year and a half  since I had some car audio goodies. It used to have a loud setup (enough to piss off some people LOL), but now, I am biased on getting some quality on that thing. Just impress the people inside and not piss off the people outside. This reminds me of posting a thread in kac about getting a new headunit for the lancer. Someone was selling an Alpine 7855R but I ended up buying a Pioneer DEH-4650 because I wanted something new and I am a n00b. Damn, I should've gotten that old Alpine. LOL.

Anyway, that's it for today.

Random Ramblings

Dec. 18th, 2007 | 10:35 pm

My Christmas vacation is delayed by a day because of a CoE115 ME (machine exercise). Although my partner and I finished the software and hardware (thanks to Randy for teaching me how to solder properly), it such a big party pooper.  The ME is due at late in the afternoon before the UP Lantern Parade. Say goodbye to finding a proper place in the Eng'g Building Steps. Anyway, that won't spoil my Christmas but listening to 30+ sappy love songs will. LOL

Well, it's such a boring day today.

I just felt that I need to post something... like lyrics of a famed new wave band called Fra Lippo Lippi! hehehe.

Beauty and Madness

Over there, just beneath the moon
There's a man with a burden to keep
Sleep will fall washouts rags 'n' paperbargs
Home and life passing by

Who will see the beauty in your life
And who will be there to hear you when you call
Who will see the madness in your life
And who will be there to catch you if you fall

Dreams run wild, as lovers find their way
Through the night, not a burden to keep
And over there, the twinkling of the night
Harbor lights say goodnight one more time

Some senseless post again. HAHAHA

I took the good old Mitsubishi to the service center and have it checked. Hopefully, they can fix the annoying uneven idling during cold starts. I also got the caster checked (and forcefully adjusted :) ) because the car loves going to right even if I want it to go straight. Too bad that it can be done because they have to replace the tie-rod ends. I am gonna pick it up after class.

Anyway, with our thesis: I came 'late' on our progress report with Sir Franz. Well, my groupmates had some problems implementing the filter needed for the composite source signal (the test signal that is fed to our echo canceller). It seems that it'll be finished soon as, Sir Franz told us what is needed to be done. Well, I tried implementing the filter using multiple filters cascaded together. The result didn't come out right. Maybe, I need to decrease the magnitude first and the add some constant magnitude again so the filter can work properly.

Well that's all for today.

RANT: Friendster is down again..

170K Km old, 11 years old, Mitsubishi 1300cc 4G13 engine

It sounds like crap right now and it hasn't even reached the 5K Km oil change mark. Well, I have been religiously changing oil and yet it runs like an old diesel motor. I also get horrible fuel consumption like 8km/li. 1300cc engines should get you at least 10km/li. I am going to change the shop that I am bringing it to. A friend of mine would introduce me to a good mechanic who serviced his good old rayban Galant...

Well that's all for today.

I just found some time to write in my blog (and hopefully my non-existent writing skills is not that rusted).

The semester just started (almost 3 weeks ago),  and it seems that I am off to a good start. Our work for the undergraduate student project has just  started. We have started to program the 3 algorithms that were needed in our project. Well, what can I say, my groupmates have talent in programming. I wish that I was as good as them. Anyway, there's a five day weekend coming up, a very good time for school work and bum work. hahaha. The mymitsu eb is this Saturday and I would like to come.

Well that's about it.

It seems my semester just ended yesterday. I don't know if it is bad or good :) ROFL

Anyway, I just downloaded Sheffield Lab Autosound 2000 Test Disc. The audio tracks are converted into lossless so there will be no loss in quality. Sheffield Lab is the premier audiophile label. They set the standard for high quality recordings.

I burned the audio cd and listened to it on my 7 year old Sony Discman. Oh my goodness! This is the best audio cd that I've ever listened to. It makes your other original cds sound like mp3s and you mp3s sound like FM radio.  Lossless audio is really good.

Update Again

Oct. 15th, 2007 | 08:52 pm

I just finished reading all the ECE 141 materials for the 3rd exam. Well that's nothing spectacular, I'll continue on my ECE 141 review till midnight tonight. I'll be making review materials for it. Tomorrow, I will start on reviewing for my CE22 final exam. I have no chance of getting exempted on it because I performed rather very poorly in the first exam. That ends my semester for the mean time.

After the exam on Thursday, I'll be trying to canvass on some *cheap*  2" tachometer. It looks like this one:

I will be getting one because the stock  Lancer EL doesn't come with one.  I just need some simple gauge to inform me how many revs that little 1300cc engine is doing. On a sidenote, no more Euro look and JDM look conversion. I am gunning for a pure PhDM look. Naks. ehehehe.

Another project for this sembreak would be reviving my good old BMX bike. It is not in good shape right now. Well, it's not that rusted. The Mongoose bike frame still looks good. I need new tires and brakes. Wala lang. ehehehe. I plan to bring it during Eng'g Week.

Wala ng budget. AHAHAHAHA
